Artist Xia Tong (夏東) grew up in an artistic family. Her interest in art began at an early age, and it led her to study with many eminent art teachers. Ms. Xia's involvement in art has not only been in creating, but also in preserving and documenting culturally significant artistic expressions of China. She was one of the members of the group that organized the Zen literature archive at the Shaolin Temple (少林寺). She also worked on the drawing documentation of the "mural line drawing draft" of the Dunhuang Wall (敦煌). Ms. Xia believes that art can provide an opportunity for significant cultural exchange between the East and West and better communication and understanding of world cultures. Ms. Xia Tong and her three adopted children are currently residing in Bejing, China.
