JOB DESCRIPTIONThe Director of Compliance is responsible for establishing a framework to ensure that our online consumer lending operations remain compliant with all applicable federal and state regulations as well as internal best practices. The Director of Compliance will develop a robust Compliance Management System (CMS) that address key areas such as policies and procedures, training, monitoring, consumer complaint response, root cause analysis, and internal compliance audits. This person will also implement a risk-based vendor management program that sets company-wide standards for due diligence, contract negotiation, onboarding, monitoring, and termination of third party vendors.In addition to the above responsibilities, the Director of Compliance will provide oversight for all of the company’s licensing activities and will lead the strategy and execution to successfully complete any regulatory or other types of external audits. The Director of Compliance will also be heavily involved in new product development and will work closely with product management, marketing, operations, analytics, technology, legal, and other functions to ensure that all new products and features are appropriately integrated into the CMS.This position is located in our Chicago, Illinois office. Primary Responsibilities Develop, enhance, and maintain the company’s Compliance Management System (CMS) and vendor management programReview existing policies and procedures to identify and remediate any compliance gapsCollaborate with other teams to ensure that existing and new policies and procedures are compliant with all applicable federal and state laws and regulationsDevelop and oversee ongoing reporting, controls and monitoring proceduresImplement a robust consumer complaint response program, including root cause analysis and management reportingCollaborate with legal team to interpret existing and new laws and regulations and provide guidance on how they may impact our current and future operationsProvide guidance on how best to structure new products and features to allow the business to achieve profitable growth while also minimizing compliance riskMonitor key industry and regulatory changes and trends and share knowledge with the broader team as appropriateOversee all licensing activities and lead strategy and execution for any regulatory or other external auditsPerform other duties as needed to ensure that our business operations are built on a culture of complianceRequirementsBachelor’s degree and preferably a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school with admittance in good standing to at least one state barAt least 3 - 5 years of regulatory compliance responsibility in the financial services industry OR experience developing and/or enforcing policies for a government agency such as the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, or Office of the Comptroller of the CurrencyStrong understanding of U.S. consumer lending statutes and other relevant regulations, including Reg Z (TILA), Reg E (EFTs), FCRA, FDCPA, ECOA, SCRA, MLA, UDAAP and GLBAAbility to thrive in startup environment with heavy workload, competing priorities, and less structure than more established companiesProficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Email & InternetExcellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization as well as State, Federal, and Foreign regulatory agencies as necessaryCOMPANY DESCRIPTIONBraviant is a leading enabler of analytics and technology-driven alternative financing solutions for consumers and small businesses.
