Antique Victorian Figural Bronzed Spelter Statue - Woman with Harp on Marble Base. This is an antique Victorian statue of a woman with her harp. Approx: 10" high X 9" wide X 7" deep. It depicts 1880s in age and the original patina finish is over spelter metal (Spelter is a metal alloy which contains zinc). It is unsigned but of excellent quality and condition, on a white marble base. I did the magnet test on the metal and it did NOT stick---a magnet NOT sticking is a good thing! (The older antique pieces will not have a magnet stick to it and collectors know this while the newer repros usually do have a magnet stick to it). Piece is stamped on the bottom with "10172" and the chair the woman sits on is stamped "1008". The statue itself is glued onto the marble base. This is the real thing. Paid big money for this work of art at an estate sale in La Jolla California, and yes, it was sold to me as genuine spelter as an investment piece. Stored in a cool dry place. Comes from a smoke-free/pet-free home.
