JOB SUMMARYCoordinates activities of workers engaged in inspecting, testing materials or products for conformance to blueprint specifications, Works with the development, application and maintenance of quality standards for industrial processes, materials and products by performing the following job duties.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESSupervises and oversees all quality control / inspection operations within department on a daily basis.Revises work assignments as needed to meet production schedules and directs work assignments accordingly to ensure on-time inspection of parts.Performs activities of workers supervised as needed.Maintains Quality Hold area and is responsible to initiate the disposition of nonconforming product for internal or customer rejections.Follows procedures for disposition of discrepant material.Maintains inspection and test equipment.Maintains inspection test and calibration documentation to ensure information is current and controlled.Checks accuracy of parts inspected by subordinates to blueprint specifications for such info as dimensions and tolerances (i.e.GD&T).Supervises and ensures the accuracy of new gauges and instruments for conformance to blueprint specifications before they are released for production use.Visually and dimensionally inspects First Piece materials or production parts for any defects of discrepancies as needed.Completes CMM and dynascope comparator programming as needed.Creates or assigns Master Inspection documentation for First Piece, In Process and Final Inspections.Submits purchase requisitions for necessary gauging and instrumentation to Quality Manager.Fixes, adjusts or maintains existing instrumentation and gauging as needed.Recommends methods to improve working conditions, processes and use of equipment that would improve efficiency and reduce material and labor waste. Performs personnel tasks in consulation with Quality Manager to assist Human Resources Department as needed, to effectively maintain departmental staff; such as:Interviewing and training Addressing complaints Investigating and resolving employee issues Conducting performance reviewsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 7 or more years previous work experience in related machining and inspection environment with supervisory responsibilities.High school diploma or GED equivalent.Apprenticeship, formal training, college course work or continuing education required. QUALIFICATIONSAbility to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.Ability to write reports and business correspondences as needed. Ability to communicate effectively both in oral and written form.Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, department workers, and the general public.Ability to perform advanced math skills related to manufacturing environment. (i.e. trigonometry, etc.).Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
