The Senior Database Administrative is a member of the Management Information Systems Team and is responsible for directly supporting the daily administration of the SQL Server Progress databases used at Lanco.Essential Functions:1. Provide thought leadership on database architectural design of existing and new systems, database administration, performance monitoring tuning, troubleshooting problems and expansion.2. Evaluate and implement products to enhance existing database solutions (reduce costs, improve efficiency, improve performance).3. Review, enhance and develop backup and recovery strategies depending on SLA requirements.4. Capacity planning and monitoring database growth.5. Design, maintain and ensure High Availability solutions including replication, clustering etc.6. Design, implement and document Disaster Recovery strategies for critical business servers. Additional Responsibilities:1. Perform capacity planning work on Production, UAT, DEV and DR environments.2. Research improvements to improve overall system performance.3. Participate in 24 X 7 Support of production environment and mission-critical applications with the Database Technology team on a rotational schedule.4. Communicate and coordinate with other Lanco IT teams to successfully resolve support and maintenance issues.5. Develop and enforce database standards and best practices including performance, security, monitoring policies and procedures.6. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications GuidelinesExperience/Training/Education:Required: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or any related field from an accredited institution.Desired: 5-7 years experience o Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:5+ years of experience developing, maintaining and administering MS SQL Server databases.Experience configuring SQL Server replication required..Experience with Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse products preferred. Development experience with complicated DTS/SSIS Package coding and maintenance a plus. Experience with Data Modeling Tools as well as creating and maintaining data models preferred. Physical and Environmental Elements:This is primarily a sedentary office classification and employees work in an office with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter and retrieve data using a computer keyboard, typewriter keyboard or calculator and to operate standard office equipment. Must be able to speak and communicate clearly. The position occasionally bends, stoops, reaches, pushes and pulls drawers to retrieve and file information and lifts and carries reports and records that typically weigh less than 30 pounds.
