Kanga is doing well in her new foster home. She had a great time at the 65+ acre dog park in Wauconda and ideally she needs an adopter that can let her run off some steam a few times a week at a park like this altho she needs some obedience and recall work. Kayla is almost 5 years old and while being missed by her old family she could clear their 6 foot fence so she needs a home where she can be trained properly to an Invisible fence or she needs to be in a leash only home. She would be IDEAL for a long distance runner. Being an IBR foster home is a wonderful opportunity to help give a rescued dog or puppy a second chance at a new happy life. She is best pals with her foster buddy Ares (Ashley litter from 2006) and is doing well with her cage training and house breaking. She's already started a bit of Agility training and is showing a lot of potential. Kanga would benefit from an active home that will keep her busy and safe. As adorable as these pups look now- they will grow to be 60 pound bundles of endless energy. Pointers need a lot of exercise in the first 4-5 years and can easily run hard for 2- 3 hours without becoming tired. They are usually quieter in the home once they get their quota of exercise- more so than GSP's, Vizslas and Weims. They are also usually more independant than their continental cousins- which can be frustrating for the person that wants a dog that will stay in close range on a hike or a visit to the dog park. These pups will be spectacular athletes but they will only excel with consistant postitive training. Upon evaluation- we think the pups would do better in a home with another dog for socialization purposes and also homes with kids over the age of 8. We also want homes that have a lot of dog experience with positive training methods. A fenced in yard is MANDATORY. Suzee and her 5 pure bred English Pointer pups (born on February 5, 2007), were rescued out of a shelter near St. Louis by a good samaritan. She has taken great care of the kids and we are now bringing them into foster care in the Chicago area. There are 3 boys and 2 girls. We will identify each puppy once they are settled in their new foster home. Puppies will be available for adoption the second week in April once they have had their first puppy vaccination. We have strict adoption protocols due to the IL Dept of Ag spay/neuter laws and we need to place the puppies within a 50 mile radius of Chicago so that they can finish their vetting. Suzee and the kids will need a safe fenced in yard. Due to the fact that these dogs have come from shelters or abuse or neglect situations, and unless we have tested these dogs on upland birds and feel they are confident and ready to work as a hunter with families where they will be trained with kindness and patience, we will only adopt to pet homes.
