SUPERVISOR: Latino and Youth Program CoordinatorWORK SCHEDULE/HOURS: 30 hours per week, including some evening and weekend hoursBENEFITS: This position is benefits-eligible.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Provide student academic support, including the development of lesson plans, creation of presentations and the organization of group and individual sessions.Organize and staff field trips and evening parent meetings.Provide students and their families with leadership and cultural opportunities in order to gain skills that are critical to their life success.Provide logistical support for activities, including reservation of space, making food arrangements and recruiting speakers.Help students to build skills that allow them to better handle social-emotional issues unique to those in the Latino immigrant population.Track student/family data for the program, including attendance, grades, goals and progress toward those goals.Assist the team in building and maintaining professional relationships with School Districts 112 and 113, local police departments, Highland Park and Highwood religious and civic groups and social service agencies in the community.Translate documents, program fliers, etc.Other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree in education, social work or related field with a minimum of 1 years of teaching/educational facilitation experience.Minimum of one year experience working with youth.Experience in developing and implementing curriculum.Strong classroom management skills.Must be bilingual (fluent in written and spoken Spanish) and culturally-competent.Good organizational skills and ability to manage different tasks simultaneously.Proficiency with Windows XP based operating system, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and conducting on-line research.Able to work effectively as part of a team and maintain professional boundaries.Ability to independently travel locally in Highland Park and HighwoodExperience working with limited English proficient immigrant communities preferred.Experience developing partnerships with schools and community stakeholders preferred.Candidates will be subject to appropriate background checks.PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
