Location: Denver, CORelo assistance availablePurposeThis role entails supporting of the integration of Client CEA platform and Journey Sciences suite of products and applications in Hadoop environments for both hosted and client site locations, including administration and management of database systems. The Hadoop Implementation & Support Engineer (HISE) will provide in-depth consulting services, using advanced industry knowledge and product expertise of the Hadoop common platforms and eco-system.Responsibilities for ImplementationOperating within a pre-defined scope of work, the HISE will install, setup, configure and administer the Client Journey Science application suite.Ensure functionality that meets business objectives and satisfies the requirements listed within the statement of work and/or documented sales commitment.Troubleshoot, identify root cause and resolve technical, security or business blockers that prevent a successful implementation so as to meet the timelines, costs and margins strictly defined within the engagement.Work with the customer to configure, customize or adapt the Client application suite, using sophisticated functional and product expertise, to properly optimize configurations and utilization while meeting the defined acceptance criteria of the statement of workDuring each phase, the HISE is expected to manage the customer relationship and expectations, communicate concisely and provide timely updates to the project team.Attend pre-delivery project meetings, call out potential risks, follow through on assigned tasks and provide status and progress of activities and deliverables to the project teamProvide pre-sales scoping of engagements through executive-level prospect meetings and/or solution reviews as needed.Responsibilities for SupportThe HISE will research, build, test, deploy, analyze, administer and maintain Hadoop ecosystems and associated Hadoop hardware and software technology components to meet current and future business needs.Utilize proven systems, scripting and troubleshooting skills to execute on highly complex tasks related to hardware and software technology component analysis, integration and incident/problem resolution.Manage efforts to test, debug, support, and analyze performance and stability and document hardware/software configuration management.Work closely with our clients – both technical and non-technical personnel – on supporting installations, upgrades; contributing recommendations and guidance on their Hadoop environments as they relate to Client products and services.Administer, manage and support Client database systems, most notably: Those related to our Hadoop platforms, e.g. Hive, Hbase; as well as those related to the CEA product and services architecture outside of Hadoop, e.g. Postgres and GreenPlum MPP.RequirementsIn-depth familiarity with big data technology and its application.Proficiency in four or more big data technologies, e.g. Hive, Hbase, Kafka, Elastic Search, PIG, Spark, Impala, Cloudera Manager, Imbari.1-3 years of experience in deployment and administration for different Hadoop distributions, e.g. Cloudera, HortonWorks.1-3 years of experience supporting and managing HDFS, and other core Hadoop components.1+ years of experience working with Hadoop security areas: authentication (e.g. Kerberos), authorization e.g. (Sentry) and encryption.3+ years of experience with database administration: e.g. installation, upgrades, performance, monitoring, backup and recovery.Proficiency in one or more programming languages e.g. C/C++, Java, Python, Perl in a Linux/UNIX environment.Able to anticipate problems and take decisive action to solve the issues.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work independently and provide status and update reports.Understanding of a variety of commonly-used analytic techniques and the models underlying them.Approximately 25% travel required.
