Our client, a leading Consumer Durables company, is expanding their marketing organization! This is a newly created role for a Channel Marketing Manager focused on both consumer retail and commercial channels.Under the direction of the VP Marketing, the Channel Marketing Manager will be responsible for impacting growth through the development and implementation of designated channel programs, meeting or exceeding assigned revenue and margin objectives. Work with Product Managers and Sales Managers to improve customer shelf placement, sales, and profitability through focusing on proactive promotions, merchandising techniques, and customization of program elements, specific to the assigned product category.Duties/ResponsibilitiesAct as liaison between sales/customer, product marketing and new product development teams, communicating customer and company needs. Works to assure that both project and customer expectations are delivered as planned. Customization of product mix, product design, packaging, merchandising, promotions, within guidelines to meet specific customer needsSupports customer specific product programs when required, working with all functional areas (marketing services, product management, operations) to drive sales. Develops a promotional planning calendar for key category accounts, based on knowledge of account and direct interaction with buyers and sales.Proactively engage in program development with the sales team to assure appropriate mix of product for designated channel. Assures customer compliance standards are met.Ensure programs are comprehensive and directly aligned with the strategic priorities of the company.Proactively initiate and manage product programs for customer line reviews.Work with product managers and sales team to ensure accurate and compelling product positioning is delivered for the channel.Provide highly disciplined and organized project management, often within tight timelines, across all functional disciplines to assure timely delivery.Manage channel specific product inventory transitions within the assigned category. Prepare and develop customer sales presentations for the sales force/customer.Travel to and be knowledgeable of multi-customer specific needs and marketing requirements. Visit key customer accounts to develop working relationships with both our sales force and the customer. Understand key customer preferences, distinct go to market strategies and differences based on market research and significant time in the field. Apply this knowledge to all program and promotional development.QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Marketing or Business related field.Minimum of 2-3 years previous experience in mid level functional marketing position.Direct experience, strong background with retail channel and customers critical.Ability to challenge, set expectations, manage performance, set accountability and drive results.Execution focused and a passion for results.Strong knowledge of retail customer planning windows, promotional/program tendencies.Excellent working knowledge of retail merchandising techniques for both in line and off shelf programs.Demonstrated success developing marketing/merchandising programs for leading mass, specialty channel customers that generated significant incremental sales and increased shelf placement.Ability to work in a fast changing dynamic environment. High energy and strong customer focus.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Execution focused and a passion for results. The ability to work at both strategic and tactical levels.Extensive experience in managing multiple departments and working on cross functional teams.Strong interpersonal skills to work with a wide variety of staff throughout all levels of the organization.Moderate overnight travel required. Usually 2-3 days per month.Strong organizational skills to prioritize work and meet timelines and schedules.Exceptional Microsoft Office suite familiarity.
