The Nurse Practitioner is a registered, professional nurse with certification in an expanded role who provides direct care to individuals, families and/or groups in a variety of ambulatory care settings. In collaboration with physicians she/he is responsible for diagnosing, prescribing treatment; and providing follow-up for patients during all phases of wellness and illness. She/he initiates referrals for implementing the patient's total care plan involving other health disciplines within and outside the hospital. Nurse Practitioners' place a marked emphasis on patient teaching and education, working collaboratively with their practice physicians.
Current licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a Registered Nurse in the expanded role of Nurse Practitioner required
Master’s Degree in Nursing required
National certification in advanced practice nursing area required
