Up for sale is a 6 foot 3 Baldwin Model L Grand Piano with Studio Bench manufactured in 1982. The serial number can be referenced to approximately 1982 according to bluebookofpianos.com. The piano was made in the USA several years before Baldwin lost its foothold on the market and started producing pianos overseas.
The piano has a beautiful satin/mahogany finish to which I have been maintaining with Steinway furniture conditioner and polish. The polish is noted for the absence of the harmful oils found in most furniture polishes. The piano's soundboard is constructed of solid maple wood. There are no significant dents, gashes, etc., although there are a few cosmetic scratches and chips in the varnish due to general wear over the years. I would rate the piano a 9/10 in cosmetics for it's age.
The inside of the piano as well as the action have been cleaned thoroughly with an air compressor to remove any dust and dirt. The action, strings, and hammers are in good working condition and the piano has been tuned twice since being purchased over a year ago. The pinblock is in great condition and can hold a tune well. I've recently had a professional tuner perform five hours of regulation to the action which helped restore tone and give life back to the keys. The following regulation was performed on the piano:
- loose hammer knuckle glued to stop clicking
- front rail of key frame bedded (made to conform to key bed) to stop knocking or clicking noise and provide firm foundation for action
- one-pass key leveling
- raise hammers to proper height off of rest felts
- adjust repetition lever height and repetition lever springs to aid in quick reset of jack
- needle damper felts to lessen "zinging" sound when dampers lowered
- C#5 let-off dowel adjusted until it can be replaced (very small piece, tech is planning to replace at next tuning at no charge)
- cleaning, aligning, lubrication of parts and action cavity
I've also had a technician inspect the soundboard and there are no cracks (very good for a piano of this age).

The piano has a rich, mellow tone unlike many of the overly bright pianos of today. It is well suited for a jazz or classically trained musician. Because it is a full size grand, the sound is full and complete when compared to that of a baby grand or upright. Like a good piano teacher always suggests, buy the largest piano you can afford.
The bench is studio grade and is adjustable. This studio bench is made of leather and is of high quality in comparison to many cheaper stationary benches available on the market. I am selling the piano because I recently purchased a home and need the money for new appliances (among other necessities). I love music, particularly piano, but must part with it for financial reasons.

Note: Buyer pays for all moving costs. Keep in mind that the piano weighs approximately 800-1000 pounds. As such, it must be moved with care and by a reputable moving company that has experience moving full size grand pianos. The piano is located on the first floor of a home (1 step on the outside to the main level) which will make moving easy. Keep in mind that moving costs are higher if there are steps involved on your end.
