POSITION: Manager of Inventory & Donations – approx. 30-40 hours per weekDEPARTMENT: Community Threads, a Christian nonprofit thrift storeSTATUS: Non-exempt and hourlyREPORTS TO: Store Managerswww.CommunityThreads.orgPOSITION SUMMARY:Community Threads is a large thrift store occupying over 20,000 square feet of retail and processing space. It is 100% nonprofit and has already produced over $800,000.00 in grants to local charities for the relief of poverty and education.Working under general supervision, this position receives and handles donations and recycling material; provides outstanding customer service; inspects, grades, and sorts donations; processes and moves materials to the appropriate area; and keeps work areas clean, neat, and free of safety hazards. Assists at other thrift locations, offsite recycling events and estate activities, and with donation pick-ups. Independent work on primarily routine functions.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:GeneralContribute to Community Threads overall mission in a God-honoring manner in accordance with Biblical standards.Commit to the Matthew 18 relational conflict resolution process in all relationships.Commit to “believe and speak the best” about the store, affiliate ministries and co-workers. Proverbs 31:26 teaches us to “open our mouths with wisdom and have kindness on our tongues.”Fulfill all the requirements of the Community Threads Employee Handbook and ensure staff and volunteers are in compliance.Agree and comply with Community Threads' Statement of Faith and Code of Conduct, as set forth in its organization and personnel materials.Receiving1. Receive and handle donations and recycling material, including furniture. While accepting donations, move material to sorting and/or recycling area, if necessary, tactfully decline donation.2. Provide outstanding customer service, including but not limited to, greet customers promptly, communicate in a professional, friendly, hospitable manner, and when possible assist customer with moving donations from vehicle to intake area, thank customer for donation.3. Using discernment, inspect, grade and sort donations/recycling material into appropriate categories, including recyclables, textiles, house wares, special events, etc.4. Place/move materials/items into appropriate bin, rack, shelf, or area. Discard non-saleable/recyclable goods as defined by Management.5. Process and move recycling material, including order preparation, record keeping, storage container management, material rotation, packaging, shrink-wrap and palletize material.6. With use of appropriate equipment, move heavy pallets and furniture in or out of storage container, to or from warehouse and showroom.7. While sorting donations, fold, hang, and tag/price materials or items prior to placing in appropriate bin, rack, shelf or area, as necessary.8. Perform duties required to assist the Store Managers with the preparation of store opening and closing as needed.9. Move or assist with the moving of merchandise to the sales floor, using appropriate handling equipment and techniques.10. Perform sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning and trash pickup as needed to maintain cleanliness, of warehouse, donation alley, recycling area and parking lot, to standard set by Manager.11. Participate in restroom/break room cleaning schedule, perform cleaning within the parameters set by Senior Retail Lead and/or Managers.12. Work at other thrift locations and Processing Center performing similar duties as above, as needed.13. Work at special offsite recycling events and estate activities as needed.14. Assist truck/van drivers with donation pickups, as needed. Could include driving a 17-foot box truck.Follow safe work practices, to include but not limited to:Participation in established job rotation.Use of correct body mechanics and lifting techniques, as instructed.Use of applicable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for designated activities.Keep work area clean and free from hazards.Keep tracking tallies of donations, donors, etc., as requested.Work harmoniously and cooperatively with co-workers and volunteers.Demonstrate positive behavioral characteristics such as initiative, cooperation, adaptability, dependability and flexibility.HIRING REQUIREMENTS:Follower of Jesus Christ, as exemplified through demonstrated commitment to applying Biblical leadership and accountability principles.One year previous warehouse and/or retail experience, preferred.Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and success in carrying out instructions as given.Demonstrated ability to analyze a particular situation or assignment and use discernment to decide next steps.Demonstrated organizational skills.Demonstrated verbal communication skills and ability to read and write.Possess valid driver’s license.
